Saudi National Day Celebrations

Monday 23 September 2024 evening, Hennessy Hotel ballroom was packed to capacity. H. E. Saudi Ambassador Fayez M. Altemyat was receiving his guests made up of the Mauritian VVIPs and colleague Ambassadors in the presence of H.E, the Vice-President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The occasion was the celebration of the 94th National Day of the KSA.

In a welcome speech, Ambassador Altemyat highlighted the journey to modernisation of his country as outlined by HRH prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The transformation of Saudi Arabia is a brilliant journey, later translated into a short film projected on a gigantic screen during the sumptuous dinner of Saudi cuisine and Saudi coffee.

Saudi Arabia has been a staunch supporter of the mauritian transformation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, education, health and infrastructure. The number of Muslims graduated in Jamia Islamia in Medina, the new state of the Art Flacq Hospital, the three weekly Saudia flights flooding the tourist population who are enjoying the excitement provided by Vallee-des-Couleurs all combine to make our island a leader among the Newly Industrialised Countries. The enchanting music to our ears was the announcement of the host that Saudi Arabia will keep its purse open to our needs.

It would however not be out of place here to mention the perception of the friends of Saudi Arabia that this country is not given the recognition it deserves. Up to now, there is no perceptible landmark that shows the Saudi contribution. It is up to our rulers to show that our nation appreciates and is grateful to this benefactor.

Alif Society would like to wish Saudi Arabia a Happy National Day, a Happy Unity Day and pray that Saudi Arabia continue to progress, to prosper with courage and pride and be a beacon of hope to the world.
