Dear friends,
I hope you are feeling comfortable living on our island, having left Mother Russia. Our warm weather and the warmth of our nation must have, by now, convinced you that you have made the right choice in moving away from the 11 time zones you have left behind.
We do not have a millennial history and culture as you do; so, we look forward to benefiting from what you have to offer to enrich us. It is true that your country is offering us a glimpse of your great music and dance [we are eagerly awaiting the masterpieces of Russian Classics programmed for 14 June next], and that your association here is running classes in the Russian language which will allow Mauritians to gain an insight into the greats of Russian literature. The visit of the delegation from Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University this week will further open possibilities for our people to acquire tertiary training in your country.
The scope for co-operation is vast; you surely know that we send abroad our patients who are inoperable here. You can add state-of-the-art hospitals in Moscow as another destination where we can go to recover our health.
June 12 is your National Day. We would like to extend our best wishes to you. May your country, under the enlightened leadership of President Putin, be led to even greater prosperity. May your nation be among the leaders, as it has always striven to be, in science and space exploration, just to name these two, and may you continue to be the granary of the world without forgetting how the rest of the world looks up to you as an important agent in solving world problems.
