To the Commander of the Mauritius National Coast Guard

As a concerned citizen of the Republic of Mauritius, I am writing to respectfully request your attention to a matter that has been of great concern to me for some time.

For several months, I have observed and reported the presence of unidentified objects located southeast of Agalega. Given the significance of maritime security of our country’s EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE, I believe it is essential for the National Coast Guard to address this issue comprehensively.

I would like to draw your attention to the National Coast Guard Act, specifically Section 6, which outlines the responsibilities of the National Coast Guard:

“6. Duties of National Coast Guard (1) Subject to this section and any environmental law, the National Coast Guard shall be responsible for—

(a) the enforcement of any law relating to the security of the State;

(b) the enforcement of any law relating to the protection of the maritime zones;

(c) the detection, prevention, and suppression of any illegal activity, including any act of piracy or maritime attack referred to in the Piracy and Maritime Violence Act within the maritime zones.”

In light of these responsibilities, I kindly request a detailed explanation regarding the aforementioned unidentified objects. It is vital for the National Coast Guard to ensure the safety and security of our maritime territory, and I believe that addressing citizen concerns is an integral part of this duty.

Additionally, I have sent an official email to the National Coast Guard Headquarters today regarding this matter. I trust that my request will be given due consideration and that a response will be forthcoming.

Thank you very much for your attention to this important issue. I look forward to your prompt and informative response.
