A wind of change is definitely blowing at the horizon?

The general conception is that majority of voters do not approve the continuous blunders of this now caretaker government of Jugnauth. These blunders have been very costly to the living conditions of the population and even to its morality. It is a fact that the system of governance by this caretaker government has failed tremendously on all aspects. From the way things are going on, it would appear that it is too late now for this caretaker government to review its policies, performances and structure in order to stand the test of time in the near future.

During that past decade, the PM has never succeeded to review this trend of the public opinion? I imagine with a population that had it so bad under this Jugnauth government for that past decade, a change is bound to happen. Many people will definitely look for a change in our political system. Of course, this could be a difficult task for an already repressed population to make his choice of preferences on any other political parties in the Opposition. However, it would seem that the population will have to choose between the Devil and the Deep blue sea.

On the other side, Jugnauth is bending over backward to maintain power which is gradually fading away from his party. How the hell will he preserve such political power when surrounded by lame duck politicians?

As far as Xavier Luc Duval (XLD) is concerned, he has always been a controversial character in various political issues thus causing disagreement with even his own father Sir Gaëtan Duval, leader of PMSD as well as with his uncle Herve Duval (senior). It is a fact that Xavier Luc Duval has never been on the same wavelength of his father, Sir Gaëtan Duval and of his uncle, Herve Duval (senior) in certain political matters.

With all those years gone by, one would have thought that Xavier Luc Duval’s old attitude about his ideology in politics has changed but that’s not the case. Despite the fact that Xavier Duval has always been regarded as a polite British-like gentleman, many people could not understand his sudden change of attitude lately. What’s behind his true reason to leave Ramgoolam-Berenger’s alliance all of a sudden on the very eve of a general election 2024? If that is not a betrayal, how does one call this then?  His true motives and reason is to cross the floor just to jump on the Jugnauth’s MSM wagons. This is the only aim of Xavier Duval to leave the PTR-MMM alliance!

Consequently, such an unexpected decision of XLD to leave could have caused great damage to the future of the PTR-MMM alliance. Thank goodness, Ramgoolam was quick to foresee and act on the spot of XLD’s strategic treacherous plan and managed to save the PTR-MMM alliance from marginalisation. Since then, three other ex-PMSD members have joined the PTR-MMM’s alliance.

It is true to say that by joining MSM, XLD would definitely commit a political suicide. Such was a grave miscalculation on the part of XLD. In fact, XLD has burnt his own boots to move further. It is obvious that today, the PMSD is history. Will XLD be able to revive the PMSD in future? Only time will tell!  I reckon that Duval and his PMSD are fading away into oblivion.

Regarding Ramgoolam as an experience politician, he should enhance his chance of good leadership by getting close acquaintance with other extra-parliamentary oppositions. By doing so, he could get their support politically. Let us not forget that these extra-parliamentary oppositions are fighting the same old fight of the PTR-MMM-ND-ReA to save the country from autocracy. Who knows in the last moment certain of the extra-parliamentary oppositions could: “donne le mot d’ordre” to support the PTR-MMM-ND-ReA just to save this country from ruin and disaster?

Today, in the Mauritian context, our electors are used to their political tradition rather than to adopt political transition.  In fact, the new alliance between PMSD and MSM could be a blessing in disguise for the PTR-MMM-ND-ReA which could lead such an alliance to victory as well as a triumphant return of Ramgoolam as PM.
