I am confronted with some turmoil within my own political party. And I sincerely believe that I will be further attacked and soiled because of my anti-Zionism stand. I hope that my fears are not true. I will not stop and never swap my struggle for justice worldwide, even if it means losing my own life.
Oh God, I have not slept a single second. Is it to do with my state of health? Is it because of the resignations of Bruneau and others? Is it because of Israel’s attack on Gaza on Friday? But my own mind tells me that I have been utterly disturbed of the killing of 10 people in Gaza… Among them was a five-year old girl… Yes, I heard the Grandfather of the young girl over the BBC around 1 AM and he said: “She was waiting when the kindergarten was going to open its doors. Looking forward to learn. She asked only one thing of her dad. A school bag. Even not a new one…”
A five-year old already aware of the ordeal her parents are going through. How can I sleep? How can we remain impassive?
On Friday, Israel launched missiles through the besieged area. Taysir al-Jabari, a commander of the Islamic Jihad’s military wing, was killed.
Why such repeated raids against Gaza?
The reason is simple. Elections are looming. New elections are scheduled for November. Israel is preparing another war on Gaza. Israel is energized by the support of President Biden. The USA, Israel know, the Arab world, will not budge. Saudi Arabia, Jordan and many others are having secret deals with the Israeli state. The leader of Al-Qaeda has been killed without a single country saying that is against International law. So Israel know that they kill and nobody will give a damn.
Do you remember, 15 months ago, Israel waged an unjust war against Gaza which lasted nearly one month and killed 260 people?
Do you know that Gaza has witnessed four or five major conflicts over the last 15 years?
Gaza is on its knees. Gaza has not really recovered because of the Israeli blockade.
Gaza just lives from conflict to conflict.
Do you know that Bassam Saadi was arrested last week? He is a leader of an armed group.
Do you know that Israel has tightened its grip on the coastal enclave by shutting down all border crossings?
Do you know that in the West Bank, Israel is encouraging settlers (Jews only!) to attack the Palestinians? Arrest Palestinians? And systematic home demolitions?
Israel leaders are using Gaza as a weapon to unite the Israeli settler population.
Prime Minister Yair Lapid said Israel will not shy away from using force… And when Israelis speak, they rarely fail to act. Yair Lapid has no military background. He wants to prove – in order to win the November elections – that he can kill more Palestinians in a very short span of time. By so acting, Yair Lapid thinks he can outsmart former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Tariq Kenney Shawa, a US-based policy fellow at Al-Shabaka, said: “Israel is using Gazans as sacrificial pawns in their ongoing struggle for power and are acting with impunity because they know nobody can or will hold them accountable.”
Another war is before us…
