The so called “deal of the century” for the Palestinians will exclude a fully independent and sovereign State of Palestine. Is the information outlandish? No! The information comes from the credible Washington Post.
The peace deal (so called peace deal) is handled by Jared Kushner who is the son in law of US president Donald Trump. The son in law is very close with the far right & Hawks of Israel. Jared Kushner has been instrumental in the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s undivided capital despite its illegality.
President Trump will unveil his peace plan by the end of the present year. According to the Washington Post the main elements of the deal will not be about the “occupied territories” but about improving the lives of the Palestinians. Some practical improvements. There will be a lot of promises so as to divide the Palestinians and to lure them in accepting material gains while at the same time “dumping” the idea of a Palestinian State. The son in law must be an idiot to believe that the Palestinians will flush years of sacrifices for a prison with golden bars. Those who are planning the “deal of the century” must surely be completely ignorant of the history of the Palestinians. The younger generation of Palestinians IS more radicalized than never. Proof: see the age group which is actively demonstrating week after week despite the out of proportion response by the Israeli snipers.
According to the Washington Post the plan is likely to focus essentially on the necessity to reinforce the security of Israel. Will the plan obtain the support of other Arab states? I don’t think so. Even though I don’t trust the rotten Arab states I believe they are fully aware that any betrayal of the Palestinian cause will only “serve” the interests of Iran. Last February there was a meeting in Riyadh and the son in law was surprised to note the in-depth support for a Palestinian State. King Salman of Saudi Arabia has emphasized the rights of the Palestinians.
The son in law is betting a lot on the support of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. True they are very close but can Mohammed Bin Salman afford to be perceived as a traitor to the Palestinian cause? Will the Congress and the American people support a deal with huge financial implication for the United States (remember Egypt) when the peace plan does not include a Palestinian state?
The “Palestinian Authority” has severed all official contacts with the Trump administration. Will the ‘Palestinian Authority’ trust the administration of Trump? Will they forget (a) Jerusalem (b) Golan Heights (c) The forthcoming annexations of the occupied territories? Any group which supports the peace plan is doomed for eternity…
When we know how the last general elections in Israel were full with anti-Palestinian racism we can’t expect much… even the so called moderate leader of the centrist blue and white party, Benny Gantz took a lot of pride to the amount of Palestinians who were killed while he was a command in Gaza during the military assault in 2014.
Benny Gantz said with a lot of vigour that he will “send part of Gaza back to the stone age”… The so called peace plan has all the ingredients to provoke the most passive Palestinian… am I right? Time will tell…
